Building connections through Pride Families

Building connections, sparking friendships and strengthening our school community are at the heart of Pride Families at Pray-Woodman Elementary School.

The program is held during the school day and brings together students in kindergarten through fourth grade in small, mixed-age groups with staff members. These groups stay together throughout a student’s time at Pray-Woodman, allowing relationships to grow across grade levels.

Through group activities, community service projects, and other engaging experiences, Pride Families promote teamwork, build confidence and foster a strong sense of belonging. Older students have opportunities to serve as leaders and mentors, while younger students build confidence by connecting with peers and staff throughout the school.

“Pride Families are the heart of our school culture,” said Emily Brungardt, Pray-Woodman school counselor. “By connecting students of all ages, we create a supportive environment where older students lead, younger students feel a sense of belonging, and every child has a ‘family’ of familiar faces across the building.”

Pride Families meet monthly, giving students regular opportunities to grow, learn and make a positive impact while practicing the school motto of self-control, respect and responsibility.
